California Olive Ranch Rebrand

The rebrand started with the desire to take a fresh look at California Olive Ranch’s packaging. After lots of exploration in entirely different design directions and some focus group feedback, we ended up with more of a packaging refresh that included a new logo but kept the key elements that contributed to brand recognition at shelf.

This rebrand ultimately won the inaugural Nielsen Design Impact Award.

One of the goals with the new packaging was to increase the connection to California. For the logo we wanted to convey the care that goes into creating the extra virgin olive oil and emphasize the people behind the product. We also wanted to greater distinguish the two product lines: the lower priced line being more of an everyday product and then elevating the higher priced line to have more premium, specialty cues.
